Special program in Vayots Dzor: 2 schools will become energy independent
2024-06-25

With the cooperation of Acba bank, Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the UN World Food Program, solar plants will be installed on the roofs of two schools in Shatin and Aghavnadzor communities of Vayots Dzor, as a result of which the schools will save 5 million drams annually. With the saved funds, children from the first to fourth grades of the mentioned schools will receive free meals.

The program is implemented with funds generated from non-cash payments made by Visa Charitable cardholders, which Acba bank directs at its own expense to the special account of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

"It is very important for children from school age to see the results of the savings created by the introduction of the latest technologies. With this project, we will solve two problems in schools: schools will become energy-saving and a high educational system will be formed there. The studies carried out by the UN World Food Program show that the higher the quality of children's food, the higher the quality of their education," said Narek Asatryan, head of public relations team at Acba bank.

"This is an interesting initiative, within the framework of which solar plants will help schools save money and spend money on food for schoolchildren. There is a lot of sun in Armenia and solar energy can help - all this is great," said Nanna Skau, director of the UN World Food Program office in Armenia.

"This is a very good program implemented by the World Food Program. The Foundation, being an advocate of alternative energy and emphasizing the development of communities, was very happy to be included in this collaboration. The program is implemented with the funds formed from the transactions made by the Visa Charitable Card holders jointly issued by Acba bank and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund," said Zaruhi Aznauryan, head of Program and External Relationship Department at Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.
